A Photo A Day Challenge - Day One

Day One - your view today.

Today I am at home working on my PhD thesis. Frankie likes when I am home so she can 'help me', usually by sitting on my keyboard or rubbing on my screen but today it is raining and she was sitting in the window watching the cars going past.

A Photo A Day Challenge

I am going to try Fat Mum Slim's challenge of taking a photo a day using the list above as inspiration. I have enjoyed seeing everyones January photos, so I have decided to take part in February. I will not post everyday, but do a post with a few photos every 3 or 4 days. Lets see how I go. Let me know if you are taking part too!

A trip to the past (part two)

So after Sofala we ventured onto Hill End. Hill End is described as an 1870s ghost town. In the 1870s it was a thriving gold town with about 8000 residents (the largest inland settlement) and had a kilometer of shopfronts, which included 28 pubs, an oyster bar and even an opium den! By the 1920s gold mining had dropped off and today its population is about only 80. In 1967 it was proclaimed a historic site and National Parks and Wildlife Service is preserved and restoring Hill End. There are also many great lookouts where you can see forever. It is a really beautiful place to visit and because of its history and beauty it is home to many artists.

Unfortunatley we took mostly video and not pictures of the buildings so my partner put together this little video which has both Sofala and Hill End. Enjoy!

Lomo Love

My partner loves experimenting with using old, vintage and different cameras. I thought I would share with you some of his photos using his Lomo camera.

This photo is called 'Overlapping Country' and won him an award about a year ago. It is of the Yarramundi paddocks at the UWS Hawkesbury Campus.

He also has been playing with an old Box Brownie so I will post some of those pics up soon.
