One of our very talented customers is opening her studio this Saturday for a Christmas sale!

She will have a variety of handmade items for sale. There are a couple of other great artists on the street who will also have their studios open to the public.

If you are in the Penrith/Mountains/Hawkesbury area on Saturday you should pop on by, I will be!

A Sale and a Broken Leg

                                                           (not her actual leg)

It`s the Mum again, Ms Barnhouse has broken her leg and ankle, poor possum, she will be off her feet for the next 3 months ...bummer for her!

The Barnhouse has been planning for ages to have a mega sale this weekend, we didn`t factor broken legs a few days before the sale into the equation but as we have heavily print advertised the sale it is still going ahead.

More details are on our facebook page http://www.facebook.com/barnhouseantiques. We were hoping to get lots more pics up this week but surgery stopped that.

Just to give you an idea of what is available we have a 9 piece Louis XV walnut dining setting, old radiogram. lots of sideboards, meatsafes, desks, art deco light fittings and so much more. If you live in Sydney it will be so worth a visit. Details of the address will be posted on our facebook.

My Cowboy Bath

This is one of my favourite purchases! It is an 1800s tin 'Cowboy' Bath Tub. I picked it up for a steal! These baths were used by travellers in the 1800s, they were light and were easy to put on a cart, or inns would have them and bring them into the travellers room so they could have a bath. I think I am going to use it for herbs and the such, but we recently used it as our drinks tub for my birthday party and it worked great!

My Mexican Fiesta!

This weekend was my 28th Birthday so I had a 'Mexican Fiesta'. I snapped a few pics as we were setting up. I used one of mums old farmhouse tables and a mix of chairs and benches. We made a few of the decorations, the rest we hunted around eBay and a few party shops for.

We got this great bunting off eBay. It was around $12 for 30 metres. It looked great!

Poor Frankie was safely locked in the laundry, not having a fiesta as the sign may suggest but giving us sad faces all night.

Gay Ware

Mum picked up this on the weekend. It has never been used and is still in the box! I have never seen a full set like this before. Normally, we get a few individual pieces in, however we never get a full unused set still in the box! This is a 'table gift set' which has cheese, butter, sugar, jam, honey. It is in the most amazing colour blue.

Gay Ware is one of the most collectable and iconic pieces from the 1950s. If you have a fifties kitchen then you have some Gay Ware. There are all sorts of canisters in different sizes, styles - cake, flour, jam, sugar, cheese etc and all different colours.

I am so glad to have got this set. I would be keeping it if we were still in our 50's house, unfortunately it does not suit the 1800s. She also picked up these three yellow canisters. Keep an eye on our facebook page for them to go onsale.

Supanova

Last weekend Josh and my best friend dragged me along to Supanova. Its like a smaller, Australian version of Comic Con. They told me that it would be appropriate for me to wear my cape, so I did. Supanova was so packed, there were so many people there, I could not believe it. We had to walk around twice just so we could have a proper look. I didn't buy anything and Josh only got a few comics, however, it was one of the best people watching experiences I have had. So many people were dressed up. It was great. Here are a few pictures I took.

Rock n Roll Market Wrap Up

A few Sundays ago we trotted off to the Rock n Roll Alternative Markets at their new venue, Sydney Uni. It was a shocking day for weather. We had a really quick look at the outside stalls but the weather was so bad we just had to head inside. The atmosphere inside was great. There were heaps of people and heaps of stalls. Some people had amazing stalls and I was able to take a few snaps. The photo above and below are from Sillier than Sally. Look at these amazing clutches!

I am going to have to apologise for the blurry face picture of Claire from Fifties Frocks but I had to show you her and her stall. These dresses are stunning, I just wish my camera was working better in the light so I could show you more. I managed to get three half decent photos of her dresses but please go and check out her website and she does such amazing work!!!

This is the beautiful Kitty Van Horne who was selling some of her goodies! She is such a stunning lady!

Annie from Cherish Treasures was also there. We know each other from the Love Vintage shows where she also exhibits, it is great that we always run into each other and have a good chat. I love her stuff, I own a necklace pendant and a pair of the scottie hair clips that you can see in this picture, they are amazing, I always get comments on them.

Despite the terrible weather we had a great day looking around and the bands were great. It is definitely worth heading off to if your in Sydney. The next one will be on the 12th August.
