Richmond Markets!

If you follow us on facebook you will know that we are having a stall at Richmond Markets this Saturday, we thought we would try it and see how it goes. Mum is taking heaps of painted furniture, some cute dolls, industrial and farmhouse items and some other different and interesting stuff.

Home from New Zealand!

Hi! I am home from sunny New Zealand. Mum was keeping the blog alive while I was away (thanks mum!). We took Joshs SLR so I am waiting for him to edit the good pictures, so until then I thought I would show you some random pics I took with my iPhone. Above is at Fox Glacier. We took a helicopter to the top of it which was really cool!

This pic was taken at the top of Sky Tower in Auckland.

This is some pressed metal that was lining the walls in a cool pub in Auckland. I love pressed metal. Apparently our bedroom (an original timber slab) was lined with tin up until the 1980s but when they went to restore it, it all fell apart and was too fragile. I am hoping one day to be able to bring some pressed metal back into our house. 

Also a cool 50's style sign on the Bakery at Hanmer Springs (one of my favourite places!!!).

So hopefully I will have some more pictures soon to show you. Also blogger changed formats while I was away and it was super confusing for me! Anyway, I think I have the hang of it now...I hope.

Did you ever see an elephant fly?

How amazing is this MCP Dumbo. I love him, he is so vibrant and colourful. 

Modern Ceramics Products (MCP) (located in Marrickville NSW) won the licence to manufacture Disney characters in the 1950's. They produced figurines from the popular Disney movies of the time. Most of the figurines were not stamped but had a MCP sticker attached which usually wore off over time. The figurines were well glazed and decorated and they are now highly sought after by Disney collectors world wide. This blog (http://disneymcp.blogspot.com) features many of the MCP Disney range and well as other Disney manufacturers of the time. 

This guy and his cute little friend Thumper will be added to the website shortly.

Necklace Sets

Here are 4 great vintage necklace and earring sets that I have just listed on the website. The yellow speckled set and the multi-colour strand are my favourites. I really love them and am a bit sad to see them to go.

Diana Pottery Waltzing Matilda Jugs

Diana Pottery in Marrickville NSW made the Waltzing Matilda jugs and mugs in 1951 and 1952 only. They were designed by Tony Valek and the colour scheme was designed by Mirel Smisek.  Several thousand were produced in the two years of production but the larger jug with the hand painted red gum tips is the most sought after piece from the range.  For Diana they were very expensive to produce as they were hand decorated and the musical mechanism in each one of them was imported from Switzerland. 

Not only are they iconic pieces of Australiana, the attention to detail is superb and was a credit to the skills of the artists that Diana Pottery employed. 

My great grandmother worked for Diana Pottery so I have been surrounded with Diana all my life. The yellow jug here was given to my grandmother by her mother and now my mum has it. We will be listing the blue jug on the website for sale.

Vintage Vanity Fairs

I have been collecting Vanity Fairs from the 1950s/1960s for a few years now. They are an amazing look into the fashion and styling at the time. I thought that I will do a few posts showing some of the amazing pictures and adds from inside. 

First I will show you Vanity Fair February 1959. The cover is tatty but the magazine is great inside. This is one of my favourites, the fashion, hair and makeup inside is stunning.
